42nd Annual Alexandria St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The 42nd Annual Alexandria St. Patrick's Day Parade, organized by The Ballyshaners, will take place on Saturday, March 1, 2025, in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. This cherished event, recognized as the first St. Patrick's Day parade in the Washington, D.C., area, traditionally occurs on the first Saturday of March. The parade features a vibrant array of participants, including pipe bands, Irish dance schools, community groups, and various performers, offering a delightful experience for families and friends.

Date and Time: Saturday, March 1, 2025

• Dignitaries Procession: 12:15 PM
• Parade Start: 12:30 PM

Parade Route: The procession commences at the intersection of King Street and St. Asaph Street, proceeds east on King Street, turns north at Lee Street, then west at Cameron Street, and concludes at the intersection of Cameron and Pitt Streets.

Participants: The parade features over 2,000 participants, including pipe and drum bands, Irish dance schools, community groups, and various performers, creating a lively and family-friendly atmosphere.

Transportation and Parking:

With thousands of spectators anticipated, attendees are encouraged to utilize public transportation. The nearest Metro station is King Street–Old Town on the Blue Line, approximately a 10-minute walk from the parade's starting point. A free trolley service is also available from the Metro station to the event area. 

Post-Parade Festivities:

Following the parade, King & Rye, in collaboration with Port City Brewing, will host an after-party featuring live music by the Irish band Poehemia, traditional Irish dishes, and local brews. Tickets with various package options are available for purchase in advance or at the door.
