the 40th Annual
LONG BEACH INVITATIONAL REGATTA
To be held on the 7th day of March 2026 at the Long Beach Sea Base & Aquatic Center, 5875 Appian Way, Long Beach, California 90803
The Long Beach Invitational Regatta is designed to test your crew’s skills and knowledge as well as ingenuity and teamwork in a way that is innovative and enjoyable. The events are based on those of other Sea Scout competitions and from requirements and basic knowledge in the Sea Scout Manual. But then, some are just off the wall.
As in the past, the Regatta intends to test your ingenuity and teamwork skills by presenting standard Sea Scouting events in challenging and fun new ways. Because these events are not presented in a way that you are used to, we recommend that you not spend a lot of time practicing. Just bring your imagination, creativity and good sense of humor for a day of fun, food and fellowship.
Registration opens at 0730. There will be a meeting at 0830 for all adults and Boatswains. In addition to the events, a barbecue lunch will be provided, and the day will conclude with the traditional “Hell-Drill” competition.
Pre-registration is important as it tells us how many ships and people to plan for. One year we almost ran out of food because of the unexpectedly high turnout. Pre-registration will be only $20.00 per ship (even if you send multiple crews). At the Regatta we will collect an additional $10.00 per person to cover the cost of meals, awards and materials. If you wish to bring your boat: The city has informed us that we cannot put any more boats on our dock. If you want to bring your boat, please call the Alamitos Bay Harbor Master at (562) 570-3215 to make docking arrangements. Otherwise, we encourage those units that can drive to the event to please do so.
