Mona supports the arts, Olde Towne Slidell, and good humor. As such, all are invited to participate in their own way, whether it be as a member, a flambeaux torch bearer, a sponsor or a costumed viewer. Members, flambeaux and sponsors can enroll online from the website. Form a mini-krewe, decorate your push float, design your costumes and express yourself with creativity and wit, remembering that this is a fun, family event. No motorized vehicles allowed.
Slidell's creative walking parade was founded in 1984 as the Carnival Krewe Mona Lisa and MoonPie, celebrating the season in Olde Towne Slidell. Transformed in 2018 as Mona Fest, the event featured costumed marchers, dancing clubs, brass bands, and an eclectic mix of grocery carts, bicycles and rickshaws, as well as their signature throw, the MoonPie.
