Local Volunteers Needed for Celebration of 41st Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day at Steelhead Creek in Sacramento Caltrans in partnership with River City Waterway Alliance are set to hold a cleanup event at Steelhead Creek in Sacramento on Sept. 20 in celebration of the 41st Annual Coastal Cleanup Day. Community groups local businesses and residents are invited to volunteer.
2025 Coastal Cleanup Day Event
Date: Sept. 20 2025
Time: 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. (new volunteers are requested to arrive 15 minutes early for registration)
Location: Steelhead Creek 201 W. El Camino Ave. Sacramento 95833
Requirements: This clean up event is for those 14 years of age and older and minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Details:
Caltrans through its Stormwater Campaign “Let’s Change This to That” and the River City Waterway Alliance are inviting local volunteers to help clean up Steelhead Creek in honor of the 41st Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day. This critical cleanup will remove trash litter and other waste ahead of the first heavy rains of the season preventing the waste from washing untreated into local rivers creeks lakes and the ocean.

About Caltrans and its Stormwater Anti-Pollution Campaign:
Caltrans the California Department of Transportation is responsible for designing constructing maintaining and operating the state's transportation infrastructure. This includes its “Let’s Change This to That” Stormwater Campaign that is educating the traveling public on the dangers created by trash litter harmful chemicals and other debris left on state highways and near waterways during drier months. Come the first heavy rains stormwater washes much of this waste and debris untreated into local rivers creeks lakes and the ocean.
