4 week Clay Human Face Sculpture Course

Welcome to our 4-week Clay Human Face Course! This course is designed to provide you with a more in-depth exploration and development of foundational skills and knowledge in creating a bas relief format face, focusing on the area from behind the ears forward. Participation will explore the aspects of personality history, and emotion in their creations.

CLASS 1 : Getting Started

• Introduction to bas relief sculpting and techniques
• Armature building
• Creating rough draft of face
• Detailed study and demonstration of facial anatomy

CLASS 2 : Creating Facial Features

• Step by step guidance on sculpting eyes, nose, mouth, and ears
• Beginning refinement of facial features with emphasis on expression and emotion

CLASS 3 : Refinement Process

• Continuing the refinement process towards achieving a polished look
• Techniques for desired surfaces and adding details
• Guidance on capturing realistic expressions and nuances

CLASS 4 : Finishing Touches

• Learning the finishing phase: removing armature and checking clay thickness
• Attaching hanging loops or other display mechanisms
• Completeion of final detailing and surface treatments

Includes: (4) 3 hour classes + class clay + unlimited studio time ( 5 weeks) + firing fees and studio glazes (5 weeks )+ 25 lbs of practice clay

*Class meets Tuesdays from 5:30pm - 8:30pm.
