Has your child ever wanted to get to know more about cows? Join us for this hands-on 8 week project where youth will borrow a jersey calf!
About this Event

Where: Youth will borrow a young dairy heifer from Simply Natural Jersey Farm to complete this project. Heifers will remain on the farm and all activities except the show will be held at the farm.

What: Youth will learn animal handling skills, along with working knowledge of dairy cows and the industry. The final event is a show for all participants to showcase their hard work.

Who: 4-H Youth ages 5 to 18 years old as of January 1st, 2026. Youth have to be 5 years old as of January 1st, 2026.

How: There will be 25 spots for new participants and 25 spots for past participants, including an up to date 4-H Online Profile (v2.4honline.com). July 20th registration is reserved for first time participants; past participants may register beginning July 21st.

When: Youth are expected to attend at least ONE practice session each week for 8 weeks. Opening Day for New and Past Participants will be August 24th starting at 5 PM. If you are not able to attend August 24th plan to come August 27th. Practices will be Monday evenings from 5-6:30 pm and Thursday evenings from 5-6:30pm from August 24th- October 8th. These are floating practices, but you must arrive by 5:45 PM. The show will be held October 10th at the Lenoir Livestock Arena(this date is required for all participants).

Cost: $40 per participant includes a project t-shirt and all equipment needed.
