Get ready for 4 days of Cuban dance, music and culture on April 16-19 with master teachers Royland Lobato, Yoel Mulen and Andy Pérez!

Join us for classes in high-energy and immersive Afro-Cuban dance, percussion, and song led by three incredible artists originally from Cuba! Learn about the historical and cultural roots of Cuban dance and music! All levels welcome.

Learn about the vibrant fusions at the heart of Cuban music and dance - and the roots of what we call “salsa.”

Friday, April 17 | Demonstration and lesson - come meet and dance with the instructors!

Note: Donations cannot be accepted on campus.

Location for Saturday and Sunday:
UH Mānoa Athletic Complex, Studios 2 & 3, Lower Campus.
Studios are located across from the main entrance to Stan Sheriff. Parking is available at the UH Lower Campus Structure.

About the instructors:
Royland Lobato, Angel Yoel Mulen-Robert, and Andy Perez are acclaimed Cuban instructors and performers in the San Francisco Bay Area, where they share their deep understanding of Afro-Cuban music, dance, and culture.
Royland Lobato, originally from Guantánamo, Cuba, holds a degree from La Escuela de Instructores de Arte de la Ciudad de La Habana (School of Arts Instructors in Havana), and is a founding member of the award-winning Havana-based dance company, Siete Potencias. He has performed throughout Europe, Mexico, Cuba, and the United States.
Angel Yoel Mulen-Robert, also from Guantánamo, is a respected lead vocalist, composer, arranger, percussionist, and director of a folkloric band that performs Afro-Cuban folkloric and Franco-Haitian music. Before coming to the United States in 2013, Yoel worked with Danza Libre of Guantánamo and the Habana Sonlar Dance Company.
Andy Pérez, born and raised in Havana, Cuba, trained and performed with prestigious dance companies such as Addaché of Matanzas, Oba Ilú, and Raíces Profundas. Today, Andy is a respected lead vocalist, arranger, and teacher dedicated to preserving and sharing Afro-Cuban musical traditions with communities in the United States and around the world.
