The St. Charles Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) Michael J. Roarty Division #1 is a fraternal organization for Irish Catholic men founded in 1836. The group promotes the values of "Friendship Unity and Christian Charity."
Each year AOH and the City of St. Charles MO host a family-friendly St. Patrick's Day parade on March 17 which starts at 4 PM to accommodate schoolchildren and their families. The parade features over 70 participants including local schools organizations and families. Last year around 30,000 people attended many of whom were children.
Schools and charitable organizations can register to participate in the parade free of charge through the City of St. Charles website at https://www.stcharlescitymo.gov/1039/St-Patricks-Day-Parade
Parade shirts will be available to purchase beginning the week of February 10, 2025 with all proceed going to charities supported by Ancient Order of Hibernians. Shirts can be purchased directly from the City of St. Charles, MO or a few selected retailers on Mainstreet. Stay tuned for more information.
Parade shirts will be long sleeve, available to hunter green or Norte Dame blue & gold with orders quarter zip light weight jackets available as special order. Parade shirts retail for $25.00 and athletic jackets cost to be determined.
Parade Shirts are sponsored by generous donations from Novellus Restaurant, Strategic Planning and Investment, CEC, Inc, STCI, No Limits Land Management, Dermody & Associates, LLC and City of St. Charles, MO.
Parade Marshal will be football Hall of Fame member Jackie Smith. With Jackie Smith, former members of the St. Louis Cardinals football team will have a float to enjoy their Irish. Included in the parade will Lindenwood University’s and St. Charles high school marching band.
Schedule of events
Parade begins at 4 pm starting at the Lewis & Clark Boat House, turning north (right) on Mainstreet ending at Clark Street (St. Charles Foundry). Floats and parade participate are welcomed to arrive beginning at noon. All floats will need to check-in with parade volunteer at the parking lot in front of Lewis & Clark Boathouse.
Parade participate are welcomed to arrive early to decorate their floats and tailgate before the parade begins.
Hedge Row Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Hoping and hosted by Ancient of Order of Hibernians. Mass begins at 2 pm below pavilion. All are welcomed to join us for this Irish tradition.
