3rd UKHGA Haidong Gumdo Open Championships
About this Event
Join the United Kingdom Haidong Gumdo Association for the 3rd UKHGA Haidong Gumdo Open Championships, taking place at Cheltenham Ladies’ College on Saturday 17 October 2026.
Doors and competitor registration open at 8:00am. The event begins at 9:00am with a special championship seminar led by Master Chul Kyung Lee, European Technical Director, followed by a full day of competition.
The championships are open to current EUHGA members of all ages and grades. Competitors will be placed into the appropriate divisions according to their age and current Haidong Gumdo grade.
Individual Gumbub is the compulsory championship discipline. Competitors may also enter Individual Paper Cutting, Individual Candles, Individual Throw Cutting, Group Gumbub, Group Paper Cutting, One-to-One Kyukgum and One-to-One Paper Cutting. Group Gumbub teams require exactly three competitors. Group Paper Cutting teams require exactly four competitors.. Opponents for the one-to-one paper cutting will be determined by the official competition draw. one-to-one Kyukgum is performed with a pre-arranged partner as a choreographed routine.
Competitors must purchase the compulsory championship-entry ticket and then select any additional disciplines as add-ons. The Master Lee seminar can also be booked separately. Spectator admission is free, but every spectator must be accompanying a named EUHGA competitor.

Info: Special Haidong Gumdo seminar led by EUHGA Technical Director Master Chul Kyung Lee. Open only to participants holding a valid seminar ticket.

Refreshment Break and Championship Changeover
Info: Short refreshment break while the competition areas and officials are prepared for the championship.

Individual Gumbub Competition
Info: The compulsory championship discipline, organised into appropriate age and grade divisions. Competitors should remain available as running times may vary according to entries.

Info: Lunch break for competitors, officials and spectators. Please bring your own lunch and refreshments.

Info: Group Gumbub and Group Paper Cutting competitions. Each registered team must consist of exactly three competitors for Gumbub and four for Paper Cutting.

Info: One-to-One Kyukgum and One-to-One Paper Cutting competitions. Opponents will be allocated by the championship organisers through the official draw.

Medal Presentation
Info: Presentation of medals to the successful competitors in each championship division, followed by official photographs and closing remarks.

Closing Photographs and Departure
Info: Final photographs, farewells and departure from the venue. The event closes at 18:00

Optional Evening Social
Info: Competitors, instructors, families and supporters are invited to join us for an informal evening social after the championship. Venue and booking details will be confirmed separately.
