The Power of Purple (POP) Gala is an annual event that unites our sponsors, volunteers, and community partners to recognize the powerful work Mothers Helping Mothers continues to do. Our theme, “The Power of Purple,” reflects the profound impact of small, everyday acts of kindness and their ability to build healthier, more resilient communities.
As a dedicated nonprofit, Mothers Helping Mothers (MHM) has been serving families in need throughout Sarasota and Manatee counties for over three decades—entirely driven by community support and volunteer efforts. MHM provides crucial resources to underserved families, offering clothing, household items, baby essentials, and new items such as car seats, cribs, and strollers—free of charge. In addition, MHM delivers financial assistance and life skills education, helping families in crisis avoid homelessness and build a stable future.
With your support, in 2023, MHM's impact was extraordinary:
4,623 families served 9,666 children supported
$177,188 given in aid 170 families diverted from homelessness
887 new car seats provided 425 new pack-n-plays with bassinets given
17,542 volunteer hours 3,030 community partner referrals given
3,676 donation bags received 740 children received school supplies
AND.... 1,103 children received new toys at our Toy Day event, including 165 new bikes
