Hello Everyone, as most of you know, I am on the Board of Directors for the Mike Goff Memorial Scholarship Fund. Mike was a Petersburg firefighter/EMT and a very close personal friend of mine who was killed in "the Line of Duty" on March 19, 1982, in downtown Petersburg at what became known as "The Franklin Street Fire." (Many of you were there that night when our call for "Mutual Aid" went out.) Shortly after Mike's death, the Mike Goff Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to provide scholarships for people desiring to further their education in fire science and/or EMS. For the past 43 years since Mike's death, scholarships have been awarded on an annual basis. (Two of our CFD/CFEMS personnel were scholarship winners in 2025.) On SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2025, we will be having the 3rd Annual MGMSF fundraiser. En'Novation, a top notch band our of Richmond, will be providing the musical entertainment. They are fantastic and their singing, dancing, and choreography is second to none. Our event is held at The Appomattox Small Boat Harbor on the outskirts of Petersburg/Colonial Heights in Prince George County right near Lowe's and Harley Davidson off the Temple Avenue extension in Colonial Heights. Gates open at 3PM and the band will play from 6-9 PM. There will be food and beverages available for purchase at the event. The harbor is a beautiful venue and the weather should be fantastic. I am inviting each of you to join us for a wonderful time of fun, fellowship, and to help us carry on the mission of the MGMSF. This is a "family friendly" event so feel free to bring your children and grandchildren too. Bring your lawn chairs. We will be having a 50/50 raffle and giving away several door prizes. This is a wonderful opportunity to spend some quality time with folks who truly appreciate and support our local public safety personnel. Tickets are $25 in advance and $35 at the gate.
