On October 24, 2026, the Manheim Township Police Foundation and Manheim Township Professional Firefighters will be hosting the 3rd Annual Battle of the Badges charity hockey game between Lancaster County Police and Lancaster County Fire at the Lancaster Ice Rink. The two teams, made up only of Lancaster County’s Finest and Bravest, will fight it out on the ice to raise money for the Lancaster County Children’s Alliance Center. Last year, this hard-fought game saw 38 first responders from 21 local police and fire agencies partner with over 300 Lancaster County community members in a house full of energy, age-old rivalry, and, most importantly, charity. The Firefighters boast a 2-0 lead in the series, but both teams have taken pride in coming together to raise over $16,000 for local charitable causes in the event’s first two years.
This year, the teams have aimed their sights even higher. For the third year in a row, active-duty first responders from over 20 local police and fire agencies will hit the ice in the heart of Lancaster County once again to revive the rivalry between their camps and bring the community together for a good cause. The two teams will fight it out in a Battle of the Badges to raise money for the Lancaster County Children’s Alliance, a community program that serves child victims and non-offending family members at no cost. Proceeds from this event will assist the organization in covering the costs of materials and services they provide to children within our Lancaster County community when there are concerns a child has experienced or witnessed abuse or a crime.
This community event will be held at Lancaster Ice Rink, located at 371 Carrera Drive, Lancaster, PA. Puck-drop is scheduled for 2:15 PM on Saturday, October 24, 2026. The event will include an opening ceremony with an Honor Guard presentation, a "Touch-A-Truck" event with police and fire vehicles present for kids to tour, and a 50/50 raffle. a silent auction, and concessions/merchandise available for purchase. All proceeds from the game will be donated directly to the Lancaster County Children’s Alliance Center.
Exclusive Battle of the Badges merchandise can be purchased online at https://etownsportinggoods.chipply.com/BattleoftheBadges/. 25% of all apparel proceeds will be donated directly to the Lancaster County Children’s Alliance Center to support their mission. Order before October 11th to have your apparel ready for pick-up on gameday!
This event will come at a cost that will be paid out by both teams to include ice rental, uniforms, and merchandise. Corporate sponsorships and donations are critical in helping us maximize our contributions to the Lancaster County Children’s Alliance Center. All sponsors of the game will be promoted to spectators. Community members and businesses interested in sponsoring this event can contact event coordinators via email at [email protected] for more details.
