Get ready to dig into history! ⛏️ Our 3rd Annual Archaeology Night at Hanley Farm is happening on Thursday, August 14th, from 4-7 pm! This FREE, family-friendly event will have you thinking like an archaeologist with fun Archaeology 101 activities like artifact cross-mending, building your own stratigraphy jars, compass-reading, and throwing an atlatl. Test your animal bone knowledge with our “Faunal Matching” game and try our History Scavenger Hunt!
You'll hear about the latest finds from this summer’s “Public Archaeology and Remote Sensing” field school, a project of the Southern Oregon University Laboratory of Anthropology (SOULA). There will be a special pop-up exhibit all about the award-winning Oregon Chinese Diaspora Project. You'll also be able to view the Jim Rock Historic Bottle and Can Collection, and artifacts from the Hanley Farm archaeological site.
Partner booths with additional activities will be hosted by the Medford BLM and the Crater Rock Museum.
Food will be available for purchase from Mary Jane's Bento.
