About this Event

Join us for a free seminar designed for families and professionals with young children, birth to five years old. Learn about early childhood supports, transitions into school, and the resources available to help your child.

Audience: Designed for parents, educators, caregivers and anyone interested in early childhood development

Workshop: Through Their Eyes: Using Parent Perspectives to Reframe our Practice

Speaker(s): Nicole Mann, Autism Specialist, Preschool, Masters of Education, & Julie Calderwood, Deaf Hard of Hearing (DHH) and Listening and Spoken Language (LSL) Preschool Teacher.

Description: The presentation will focus on building strong, trusting relationships between families and educators. When parents, guardians, and school staff work together, children with varying abilities are better supported and have greater opportunities to learn and succeed. Understanding your child’s strengths and needs, coping with changes and new diagnoses, and building positive communication with your child’s school will be covered. Families will gain practical tools to navigate special education, communicate with schools, and support their child’s wellbeing.

Parent Parent Perspective:

Description: Join us for an honest and encouraging conversation with parents and students who will share their personal experiences navigating school, special education, and supporting children with different abilities. Panelists will talk about challenges, successes, and share what they have learned on their journey. We hope families leave feeling informed, encouraged, and empowered to build strong partnerships with their schools.

Supporting Myles: A Family’s Journey from Early Start to School Presentation

Description: Focuses on four-year-old Myles, his family, and his school-based service providers who describe their experience moving from home-based services to programs and services at California Elementary school.
