"Falafel is a common, vegan street food in Egypt, Levant and the wider Middle East. The origin of falafel is not known, but it is believed that it originated in Egypt. Falafel is a deep fried ball or a patty shaped fritter, the main ingredient of which are either ground chickpeas (garbanzo beans) or fava beans. These fried balls are served as a wrap in a flatbread like pita. The wrap has other toppings like pickles, salad, fries, hot sauce, and tahini-based sauce."
This project is made possible with funds from the Statewide County Regrant Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on The Arts with support of the Office of the Governor and The New York State Legislature and administered by The Arts Council of The Southern Finger Lakes.
