The Annual Alumni Golf Tournament serves to raise critical funding that is allocated towards programming and services at Boys & Girls Club of Meriden provided to over 1,200 Central Connecticut youth throughout the year. Services include an exceptional afterschool enrichment program, year-round preschool, sports & recreation leagues, and two summer camps.
At Boys & Girls Club of Meriden, no child is ever turned away due to financial constraint. Due to this, over 80% of members have their fees subsidized.
Youth who attend Boys & Girls Clubs tend to demonstrate improved academic performance, increased social and emotional well-being, and reduced involvement in risky behaviors compared to their peers. Regular attendance at the Club is associated with higher levels of community service, academic confidence, and future career aspirations. 97% of Club teens expect to graduate from high school, and 76% of low-income Club members ages 12 to 18 who attend the Club regularly reported receiving mostly As and Bs, compared to 67% of their peers nationally.
