About the artists who started it all ~
Ann Altman
Art is just about doing it- setting yourself down, picking up a brush (in this case) and loading it with paint. It doesn’t matter what color; just begin. Magic happens. Then it doesn’t. Then it is time to focus. Push through. Figure out what needs figuring. Make it right. Make it true. Make it beautiful.
Teresa Burgett
My goal, when making art, is to have fun. I enjoy trying new things, and when I have made my artistic statement enough times, I move onto something else. For this show I am including examples of some of the styles of painting I have tried over the years.
Antonia Jenkins
Antonia Welsh Jenkins has worked in ceramics, focusing on hand-built sculptural works combining human and animal forms with functional pottery, representing various creatures and mythical figures. Her work is glazed and hand-decorated and fired at cone 6 oxidation. She finds a great deal of essential joy and humor in the ways of the natural world.
Shannon Rice
The paintings for this special show convey my love of flowers. I find it fun and satisfying to put brush to canvas capturing their vibrant beauty. In an unpredictable world, the simple act of enjoying flowers calms my spirit and reminds me to live in the moment. The soft strength of a flower impresses and inspires me. I have yet to tire of my whimsical muse and their unabashed allure.
Theresa Sharrar
When I'm creating art, everything seems to come together for me. I approach my creations with mostly confidence and a large dose of restless anticipation.
I bring my ideas and desires to the canvas and with that a dialogue of exchange begins. Painting is great enjoyment for me, and I am deeply satisfied when I can
become a tool for what wants and needs to come through.
