of Edgar Allan Poe haunting the
streets of Newark, Delaware narrated by Gina Rella.
They say the town of Newark remembers its ghosts. The oldest bricks of the buildings hold echoes of lectures, whispers and footsteps long vanished. But, no other echo is as persistent as those belonging to Edgar Allan Poe. In the year 1843, Poe made his final appearance at the Academy of Newark. His visit abruptly cut short as he staggered down the train tracks into the brisk night, his coat whipping in the wind, the iron rails ringing with every hurried step. Behind him followed the angry townsfolk with their torches burning in judgement. Poe fled on foot all the way back to Philadelphia, with his voice raw and bitter, slurring words with a curse on Newark, its people and all of the students then and now.
