The Town of Ledyard, or North Groton as it was known, split off from Groton in 1725 because attending church in Groton was a long way by horse and wagon. This Memorial Day, several historic buildings in Ledyard will be open to the public just before and a little after the Memorial Day Parade. Stop in to see the Congregational Church, the Bill Library History Room, the Center School, the Chowder House, the Old Town Hall, and more (see comments below). Docents will be available to answer your questions and you’ll be able to explore some of Ledyard’s 300 years of history as a town!
