About this Event
During this 3-week series, Gen Rabka will guide us along a sequence of meditations which enable us to develop the supremely altruistic heart of bodhichitta.
‘Bodhi’ means ‘enlightenment’, and ‘chitta’ means ‘mind’; therefore, ‘bodhichitta’ literally means "mind of enlightenment." It is defined as a mind, motivated by deep compassion for all living beings, that spontaneously seeks enlightenment to benefit everyone without exception.
Of all spiritual realizations, bodhichitta is supreme. It is the very essence of the Bodhisattva’s training. By developing and maintaining this good heart, we transform all our virtues into a path to enlightenment, learn to solve our daily problems, fulfill our deepest wishes, and gain the power to help others in the most beneficial ways. Bodhichitta is the ultimate inner friend and the highest quality we can ever develop. The moment we generate this mind, we become a Bodhisattva — a person bound for enlightenment.
Weekly Journey:
- Week 1 — Great Compassion: Develop the courage of a compassionate heart — the wish for all living beings to be permanently free from suffering and problems — and discover how this acts as the essential foundation for all higher spiritual realisations.
- Week 2 — Universal Wishing Love: Learn to expand your compassionate heart through "wishing love"— a heartfelt and active desire for each and every living being to find the perfect, lasting happiness that they seek.
- Week 3: Taking & Giving and the Supreme Good Heart of Bodhichitta: Learn the transformative meditative practice of "taking and giving", and cultivate the supreme good heart of bodhichitta.
No prior experience or particular religious beliefs are necessary to attend this series – everyone is welcome!
