About The Book//

The remote Grenadine islands- sailing paradise of the southern Caribbean. Home of Maggie and Jack's popular little charter boat company and, now... M**der.
After prevailing in A Turquoise Grave, popular heroine Maggie Mullaley is back to take on the Amalgamated Fruit Company when this giant industrial agriculture conglomerate moves in on tiny St. Vincent. Maggie, a part time lawyer on her days off from sailing, gets drawn into the fight of local pineapple farmers to hold onto their land. Dark secrets begin to emerge from the company's past of environmental degradation and human catastrophe. Secrets they will go to any length to keep hidden. Suddenly, Maggie's client Solange, a feisty woman farmer with secrets of her own, is in their cross hairs, and Maggie is sailing a hard race against time, to expose the truth before it's too late.
A Coffin Full of Pineapples is the second in a series of mystery novels that Hilary Cohen first introduced to readers in 2023 with A Turquoise Grave. Set in the remote Grenadine Islands of the southern Caribbean, the novels feature former Chicago lawyer Maggie Mullaley, young, plucky, trying to leave past sorrows behind. Maggie is in the Caribbean to regain her emotional footing, longing for nothing more than the sea and the charms of village life. An experienced sailor, she winds up crewing for raffish charter boat captain Jack Phelps and finds herself in a world about as far from her disintegrating former existence in Chicago as possible.

About The Author//

With A Coffin Full of Pineapples, Hilary Cohen expands her growing series of Caribbean Island mystery novels, first begun in 2023 with A Turquoise Grave. The mysteries are a recent addition to Hilary’s long career in the arts. She has worked in the theater as an actor, director, and playwright for more than 40 years, and is known to many Ann Arborites for her role as one of the Artistic Directors of Wild Swan Theater. She has also published widely, writing about the arts and travel for numerous professional journals, magazines, and blogs. She is a passionate sailor and combined her love of storytelling, travel, and sailing in a piece she wrote for the New York Times Travel Section in 2017, the combination a hint of the mystery novels to come. For more information, please visit www.hilaryucohen.com. There you will also find a host of postings that capture sailing and village life through photos, interviews, and character sketches.
