Please join us if you can Thursday, May 9 from 7:15 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. CDT when we welcome Houston's Sandi Stromberg as our in-store feature for this fully hybrid in-store/Zoom event. Cindy Huyser hosts and a "round robin" open mic follows the feature.Sandi Stromberg lives in Houston, Texas, after many years as a nomad in five countries across two continents. She has been nominated four times for a Pushcart Prize, twice for Best of the Net and selected as a juried poet in the Houston Poetry Fest eleven times, and her poem, “The Art Asylum,” is currently being set to music for the Chinese two-string bowed instrument known as the erhu by Singaporean composer Andrew Ng Ting Shan. Stromberg’s work is widely published in literary journals and anthologies, most recently and forthcoming this spring in The Memory Palace, Gyroscope Review, Panoply, San Pedro River Review, Pulse, The Windhover, The Senior Class, and The Orchards Poetry Journal. She is an editor at The Ekphrastic Review. She also edited two anthologies of poetry: Untameable City: Poems on the Nature of Houston (Mutabilis Press, 2015) and with Lucy Griffith Echoes of the Cordillera (Museum of the Big Bend, 2018), ekphrastic poems based on the photography of Jim Bones. Her poetry, translated into Dutch, has been published in the Netherlands in Brabant Cultureel.
