Experience the wonder of winter through art and story. Children will paint their own snowy owl masterpiece, inspired by the majestic owl featured in A Life in the Wild, the stunning wildlife photography exhibit by Thomas D. Mangelsen. Then enjoy listening to The Christmas Owl by Gideon Sterer and Ellen Kalish, a touching tale based on the true story of a little owl found in the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree who gets a second chance at life.2nd Saturday events are designed for children ages 5-12, and feature an enchanting read-out-loud experience and art activity thoughtfully designed for young readers and budding artists! Each session features a hands-on project inspired by the story and a carefully selected book aligned with our exhibits or monthly theme. Reservations are not required, but seating is available on a first come-first served basis. Materials and activities are included with regular museum admission.
