2nd Annual Let Your Light Shine Memorial Outing: In Memory of Laura TenPass

Old Hickory Golf Club will be hosting the 2nd annual Let Your Light Shine Memorial Outing, in memory of Laura TenPass, on Saturday August 15th, 2026.
Laura was diagnosed with colon cancer late in the fall of 2011. Her first surgery took place in December of that year. She lived with cancer for 13 years, passing in 2024. Colon cancer can be treatable if caught early and Laura’s was. After her first surgery in December of 2011, they had gotten all of the cancer cells and were very happy with the prognosis. But in 2013, the cancer returned in other organs, and she was never again cancer free. In 2013, after another surgery, the Chemo started, and so did her relationship with the Carbone Cancer Center.
Laura’s only request was to have her journey used to help others. She wanted researchers to learn from her story so that no one else would have to suffer the same way. The funds raised from this event are being donated in Laura’s name to the Carbone Cancer Center to continue their research to better understand and work towards treatments to help others live longer. The Carbone Cancer Center is committed to transforming, preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer now and in the future.
