In keeping with this mandate, we facilitate an educational environment that is both innovative and inclusive and that encourages participants of all ages to engage with diverse cultures and traditions from around the globe.

The Kreole & Krawfish CommUNITY Gathering, organized by POWERED By MUSIC, is a truly inspiring event that aims to raise funds for the “Are You Ready To Learn with Andre Thierry” music program. Through the program’s noble intent of preserving the rich French Kreole heritage and culture while supporting music education, we create positive impacts to ensure that this cultural legacy endures its traditions for future generations.

On May 11, 2024, the highly anticipated Kreole & Krawfish CommUNITY Gathering will return to SOMO Village Event Center in Rohnert Park, CA. Indulge your senses in the mouth-watering flavors of Louisiana's cuisines and refreshing drink specials at the full-service bar while entertained by lively French Kreole La La, Zydeco, and Accordion Soul Music.

This outdoor event is excellent for families and dance enthusiasts alike! Plus, it's free for children under twelve, and plenty of free parking is available. A spacious dance floor, a creative zone for children filled with arts, crafts, and games, comfortable reserved table seating, and lawn seating. The atmosphere is filled with good vibes, making it the perfect place for family-friendly reunions.

Attendees will enjoy the electrifying performances of Grammy-nominated artist Andre Thierry and other talented Kreole musicians from Louisiana and Texas as they unite and showcase their high-energy rhythmic expressions, calling ALL music lovers to the dance floor! THE VENUE

SOMO Village is a 200-acre, environmentally friendly, live-work-play community in Rohnert Park, CA. The village boasts a solar-powered 3000-capacity outdoor venue, considered the North Bay’s most unique and enjoyable live performance facility. The venue features a custom-designed 1200sf stage and redwood bleachers, all within a 1½ acre courtyard and redwood grove. In partnership with SOMO Concerts, the venue helps usher in an exciting new era of live music in Sonoma County.

EVENT BENEFICIARY

The “Are You Ready To Learn with Andre Thierry” music program for children and families combines traditional and newly composed music, exploring the French Kreole culture and Zydeco Music of Southwest Louisana. Andre Thierry, the artist, exhibits interactive ways to share a mix of African and Native American Blues and French Kreole dance melodies with elements of Afro-Caribbean music. Children and their families enjoy a musical learning adventure, singing and dancing together with the artist. The instruments he introduces are the vest rub boards, drums, and accordions; all are popular Zydeco instruments. The program offers cultural and historical perspectives on the music. The curriculum ranges from a simple introduction to complete rhythmic activities that involve listening and guessing games, music vocabulary, creating and performing songs with the artist, and planning their recital for parents. Yes, there is plenty of free Parking at the event. ADA parking is available.

DO YOU HAVE AN ADA SECTION?

Yes, we do! At SOMO Village, our ADA section has dedicated seating with a sight line to the stage. Signage designates this section and is available to anyone with a need.

ARE YOUR SHOWS ALL AGES?

All-ages welcome. Children 12 and under are free of charge.

CAN I BRING FOOD OR DRINKS TO THE VENUE?

Outside food and beverages are NOT PERMITTED at the venue. Plenty of great food and drinks are available inside, so come hungry!

DO YOU ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS FOR FOOD AND DRINK PURCHASES?

Our ability to accept credit cards is limited, as are ATMs. We recommend that you bring cash to help keep the lines moving.

ARE THERE ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AT THE EVENT?

Yes, We have a full bar with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink options.

CAN I BRING A CHAIR?

Yes, you can bring folding chairs, but they must be low-to-the-ground (seat 8″ or lower from the ground and height 28″ or lower).

DO GENERAL ADMISSION TICKETS GET YOU A SEAT, OR IS GENERAL ADMISSION LAWN SEATING?

The general admission area is an open space with a lawn, asphalt, and walkways on the side. Feel free to bring a picnic blanket.

DO YOU HAVE RESERVED SEATING?

Yes, we have reserved table seating available for purchase.

IS THIS EVENT OUTDOORS?

Yes, the event is held outdoors.

ARE THERE IN AN OUTS AT THE VENUE?

There are NO ins and outs at our venue. Please bring everything you will need for the duration of your stay into the venue. This includes medications, clothing, hats, blankets, and chairs.
