HERE WE GO, again!!! The 2nd Annual Chesapeake Bay Fountain FunDay! A number of people this winter have asked if it was happening again so, let's make this one bigger and better than the one last year! Hopefully the weather is a little better as well! Wild fires caused some major visibility issues!
This is a fun run for FOUNTAIN specific brand powerboats. This is not a poker run, it's a free get together for anyone with a Fountain that loves these boats and wants to get together for the day!
We did this last year after seeing similar events done in other places for other brands and there's an annual Checkmate group event on the bay every year as well. I'm looking forward to seeing a group of Fountains for a lunch run and and hang out for the day.
Like last year there are gathering points for those coming from the North as well as those coming from the South. If anyone is trailering from outside the Chesapeake area, Anchor Marine in North East, MD is a great ramp to put in at and it's also where myself and others will be leaving from to head to the North group meetup location that morning. Fun Run schedule:
Meet at 10:30am
- For the North group, everyone will meet me just South of Turkey Point Lighthouse which it the usual spot for all fun runs up here.

- For the South group, everyone will meet Jimmy Jernigan at Sandy Point Lighthouse, just North of the Bay Bridge.

At Turkey Point I'd like get the boats as close together as the conditions allow, put my drone up and get some pictures of the group. If anyone coming from the South wants to do the same at that spot, let the group know.
We'll depart the meetup points at 11am and both the North and South groups will run and meet a couple miles to the South side of Pooles Island. For the North group that usually runs the inside cut to the West of Pooles, I'd recommend running straight South on the East side of Pooles, closer to Fairly Creek. Anyone in the Middle River area is welcome to join either of these groups that are closer to you, or meet us out at the South side of Pooles Island.

From there we're running into Middle River for lunch at LoonASea. A long line of just Fountains idling up the Middle River no wake zone should be cool to see. I'll again try to put up my drone at times I think I can get away with it either at the meetup point at Pooles, or in the no wake zone.
At LoonASea, please only use C and D docks and follow the dockhands instructions. If you are not tied to the T head, you will need 5 lines as they are fixed pier, D dock is better for shorter boats, under 30'. We will also utilize the T-heads for rafting up. D dock can accommodate 2 rows of boats rafted off, stern to stern. C dock can only accommodate 1 boat for rafting.

After lunch, about 2:30pm, we're headed to Still Pond creek for a raft up. As I'm likely the slowest boat on this run, I'll likely leave early and try to get to Still Pond 15 minutes before the crowd, to try and find a spot and get my anchors out for the group heading there.

We'll get as close to the sandbar as possible, tie up as many Fountains as possible and hang out for the rest of the afternoon. Again, I'd love to get some drone pictures of a huge Fountain raft up.
Lastly, about 6pm, whoever is up for it, we're getting a slip at the Chesapeake Inn for the night. So anyone that wants to go there for the night, continue the party is welcome to join us. We had a few boats join us there last year and everyone had a great time!
Everyone else can stay rafted up until you want to peel out and head home.
I'll be trying to get Fountain boats from Iconic Marine in Grasonville to participate this year, they ended up not being able to make it last year, more details to come with that.
I'll post updates a long the way. Any questions feel free to hit me up and an actual "boat count" post will follow as we get closer so I can more accurately prepare LoonASea for our arrival.
