WEAR YELLOW FOR SPINA BIFIDA AWARENESS!!!!

In 1995, 8-year-old Rashon E. Forrest was hospitalized at Walter Reed Army Medical Center (at that time located on Georgia Ave NW) because of complications from hydrocephalus that came with her being born with spina bifida. It was at that time that she became aware of Howard University. After her hospitalization, surgery to correct the hydrocephalus and getting her stitches removed a family friend drove her and her mother down Georgia Ave NW and showed them where Howard University is. At that fateful moment it welled up in Rashon's young spirit that she would apply, get accepted and graduate from that illustrious historical black university. Ten years after that she indeed applied and was accepted and 5 years after that she graduated, completing her dream that began 15 years before. Now is a time celebrate all that and no better time then to do it during Howard's Homecoming.
