WE WANT TO BRING ALL DIVISIONS OUT IN BB, A, AND OPEN!
We will be diligent to ensure players DO NOT sandbag in a lower division.
If we do not have enough teams to play out a division, we will merge divisions and create upper and lower bracket playoffs to maximize playing time and prize opportunities.
Minimum teams required to play out a division: 4-5 to maintain separation of divisions.

PRIZES: Our goal is to ALWAYS provide prizes that make the tournament day feel worthwhile and worth your time.
Prizes will be determined based on division pool size. The goal is to payout Open and A divisions with prize items and/or merch, and the BB division with prize items and merch.

RULES: Here at 2hypevolleyball, we implement a few rules that give all athletes a chance to play volleyball at its highest capacity and not be restricted so much by minor rules. Please read carefully.
Upon receiving a serve, open-hand serve receiving IS ALLOWED / LEGAL
Block DOES NOT count as a touch
You CAN redirect on a block
Set overs are NOT ALLOWED / ILLEGAL
NO finger action upon attacking the ball.
Standard grass rules apply for setting/ doubles.
- One hand setting is legal, but is considered a set over if crossed the plane of the net fully and is touched first by the opposing team.
Open hand receives ARE ALLOWED / LEGAL during rallies when receiving attacks. First contact on these DO NOT need to be clean.
Clarification of some rules for anyone new to outdoor grass volleyball:
Redirecting a block means you can swipe the ball down to your sides when pressing over and blocking the ball.
Set overs - are when you take your hands in a "setting motion" and push/set the ball over the net purposely. This is illegal for our tournaments. Some tournaments allow this rule depending on where you play.
Finger action on attacks - using any form of your fingers when attacking the ball. Tips, swipes, power pushes / tips, anything that uses your fingers when attacking the ball is considered illegal. You must close your fingers, aka use your knuckles or palm, when attacking the ball to be considered a legal attack or strike on the ball.
Setting/ double calls - Rules for setting outdoors typically mean the ball CANNOT spin or must have minimal spin upon setting the ball to be attacked. This varies depending on referees and tournament rules.
For 2-hypevolleyball tournaments, our rule of thumb is that the sets must still be clean. We have received questions of "How lenient are we with doubles?" It should still be standard grass setting rules applied. Spin and/or double contact calls.
It may differ for each referee and each division, so PLEASE ensure you let teams know how you plan to dictate calls for the setting.

What is needed:
Division signing up for
Team name
Roster of players with full names
Emails of all players (needed to receive the tournament information packet)
T-shirt sizes (for us to give out t-shirts if we have them available)
If you do not have a finalized roster, you can give us what you have currently available just to secure a spot!
This option is great for teams that are still forming but want to lock in their spot early.
It’s especially helpful for groups that aren’t ready to pay in full yet, as it allows registration without immediate financial commitment or while the team is still collecting payments.
It also gives us a better idea of who plans to compete and builds momentum by encouraging more teams to join in.
