On behalf of the International Society for the Research and Promotion of Wind Music (the “IGEB”), I would like to invite you – and potentially your colleagues and graduate students – to participate in the next edition of the biennial international conference of our society, which will take place in Valencia, Spain this summer, from July 11 to 15. I am the principal organizer of this year’s IGEB conference, our 27th, which also coincides with our society's 50th anniversary. Please let me know if you have any questions about this conference.
“The objective of this society is the exploration of all aspects of wind music through international conferences, at which musicologists, conductors, interested musicians and amateurs can exchange ideas and knowledge. The publication series, Alta Musica, promotes the dissemination of research on a wide variety of topics related to wind music.”
Many American and Canadian members of the IGEB are university band directors, and several of them have involved their graduate students in our society’s research efforts on behalf of wind music. https://www.igeb.net/about-us1.html
The deadline for submitting proposals for presenting proposals at this conference has been extended to January 15.
Here is the link with the instructions for the proposals and other details of the conference:
https://www.igeb.net/conferences.html
Proposals can deal with any topic that has to do with wind music research and promotion, both the music band and a specific work, or composer of works, or the history of a wind instrument, or chamber music, or pedagogy of music for wind instruments, etc.
Conference presentations are 20 minutes, with another 10 minutes for questions, comments, etc.
Regardless of whether or not people participate as presenters at the conference, everyone is invited to attend the conference, which is free for all those who do not give presentations. Special rates are available for university student presenters.
