27th Annual Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk

The Down Syndrome Association of Memphis and the Mid-South (DSAM) would like to announce our 27th annual awareness event Step Up for Down Syndrome will be held Sunday October 27th 2024 from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Bert Ferguson Park in Cordova. This one-mile fun walk is held each year in October to celebrate National Down Syndrome Awareness month designed to promote awareness of the inherent worth and abilities of people with Down syndrome. The event has grown from approximately 60 participants in 1997 to an anticipated 2500 participants in 2024 making the STEP UP for Down Syndrome event one of the largest disability awareness events in the Mid-South. The Memphis area alone has over 1500 members of its community with Down syndrome.

Cost for registration is $21 per person with free admission for individuals with Down syndrome and prizes will be awarded for the highest fundraisers as well as the largest teams. The afternoon will include a picnic entertainment a children’s play area petting zoo vendors and a one-mile fun family walk. 

Richard Ransom from ABC24 News will act as Emcee.
