About this Event
24-hour postural care provides an opportunity for clinicians to move beyond isolated equipment decisions and develop structured, clinically justified approaches that connect assessment findings with intervention across lying, sitting, and standing.
This workshop focuses on practical reasoning and application, supporting participants to confidently interpret assessment outcomes and translate these into clear, effective postural care strategies. Emphasis is placed on understanding how posture evolves across the day, how asymmetries influence function and risk, and how assistive technology can be thoughtfully configured to support consistent positioning.
Working collaboratively with assistive technology suppliers, participants will explore how product features, adjustability, and configuration options can be aligned with clinical priorities. Through case-based discussion and real-world examples, the session will demonstrate how to move from assessment to implementation, with consideration of day-to-day realities, user tolerance, and environmental factors. The overall aim is to strengthen confidence and consistency in clinical decision-making, supporting the development of postural care plans that are both clinically sound and practically achievable.
Key Learning Areas:
By attending this workshop, participants will:
- Analyse postural presentation and identify key asymmetries impacting function, risk, and positioning across the 24-hour period
- Interpret assessment findings to establish clear clinical priorities for postural management
- Apply clinical reasoning to align assistive technology features and configuration options with identified postural goals
- Develop a practical 24-hour postural management plan that considers implementation factors, including environment, support networks, and user tolerance
