DAY 3 – Sunday, 15 March 2026
21st IAWRT Asian Women's Film Festival | C.D. Deshmukh Auditorium + Conference Room 1
The festival's closing day is a celebration of craft, community, and courage — featuring the most anticipated Masterclass of the edition, a special animation showcase, and a Closing Ceremony with a film and conversation that audiences will not stop talking about.
The morning opens with Even The Fire Knows (Dipanjali Khakhlary), Bavita (Aditti Padmanabhan), and The Unfated / Aapkarmi (Taruna Khatri) — all with filmmakers present.
At 10:45 AM, the auditorium hosts the day's headline event: the feature Working Girls by Paromita Vohra (India, 2h 13m) — one of the most anticipated films of the festival — followed by a Masterclass with Subasri Krishnan in conversation with Paromita Vohra, exploring feminist filmmaking, documentary practice, and the politics of the everyday. Do not miss this.
Running in Conference Room 1 from 10:30 AM is a special screening of films from the Asanjo Film Festival, Bhuj, featuring nine community-made short films, followed by a Masterclass on Participatory Filmmaking — a powerful programme celebrating grassroots women's voices.
At 2:15 PM, the auditorium presents the AniMela Animation Showcase, featuring nine short films including Sulaimani (Vinnie Ann Bose, France), Song of Whales (Afroza Hossain Sara, Bangladesh/France), Come Home (Shenuka Corea, Sri Lanka), and The Girl Who Lived in the Loo (Subarna Das, India) — followed by a Masterclass on animation filmmaking.
The late afternoon brings From Fields to Flight (Ipshita Bhattacharyya), Friends of Jilipibala (Debalina Majumder), and Room at the Farm / Khooh Waala Ghar (Jasmine Kaur Roy & Avinash Roy). Conference Room 1 concludes with an international showcase featuring films from Turkey, China, Australia, Iran, and Nepal.
The evening's Closing Ceremony at 6:15 PM screens Shadowbox / Baksho Bondi by Tanushree Das and Saumyananda Sahi (India, 1h 33m) — a raw, intimate, and deeply affecting feature — followed by a special conversation with director Tanushree Das and actor Tillotama Shome, moderated by Prachee Bajania. A powerful close to three remarkable days of cinema.
