THIS Sunday, March 1st we are putting together the 21st Annual Old Plank/River Road Cleanup! We love this annual cleanup to get together and kick off the season in our home stretch of the Missouri River! Not to mention, just getting out of the house and getting some fresh air. We hope many of you can make it!
--Here are the details--
Meet at Cooper's Landing at 9:00AM this Sunday, March 1st to sign up for a trash site. If you come after 10, the trash might all be gone! It will be a good idea to bring some snacks of your own. We’ll have coffee to share in the morning. Dress warm and in layers!
We will have some volunteer risk release forms to you to fill out at registration. You will also get maps of the road and your cleanup stretch. Orientation talk will start about 9:15AM.
We'll have trash bags, gloves, trash tongs, and a box of brightly covered vests. Bring snacks and a reusable water bottle with you. Muck boots are a good idea to bring along!
After the orientation and safety talk we'll split into our groups and head out to clean up Old Plank Rd., Smith Hatchery, roads leading to Providence Access, around Cooper's and downstream along the river road to the old “Party Corner”. The cleanup is usually done in a few short hours. We should be wrapping up by 12:00PM. We will meet back up and pile all the trash at the south end of Cooper's at Missouri River Relief's Adopt-A-Road sign. Be sure to stick around for the trash offload, group photo and Pizza Tree afterwards!
