$40 includes entry for TWO (2) people + a cozy two-mat spot set up for you in advance with a soft pile of blankets and pillows (bring your own as well if you like!), 2 bottles of sparkling water, and 2 large-size movie snacks of your choice (collect your goodies upon arrival).

Join us for our first-ever movie night @ Breathing Room Collective as we enjoy a Friday-night screening of Sita Sings the Blues, an entertaining, unconventional, animated musical originally released in 2008.

Chilled champagne splits and individual canned servings of wine, beer, and kombucha will be available for purchase upon arrival. (cash, Venmo, or card will be accepted)

This is strictly a 21+ event.

Sita Sings the Blues offers a light-hearted but knowledgeable discussion juxtaposing both the ancient mythological story of The Ramayana (a classic and epic Indian tale illustrating the triumph of good over evil) with a modern biographical plot based on the producer's personal life, this film is a total treat to watch.

Sita is a goddess separated from her beloved Lord and husband Rama. Nina is an animator whose husband moves to India, then dumps her by email. Three Indian shadow puppets narrate both ancient tragedy and modern comedy in this beautifully animated interpretation of the Indian epic Ramayana. Set to 1920's jazz vocals, Sita Sings the Blues earns its tagline as "The Greatest Break-Up Story Ever Told."

Sita Sings the Blues is a 2008 animated film written, directed, produced, and animated entirely by American artist Nina Paley (with the exception of some fight animation by Jake Friedman in the "Battle of Lanka" scene using 2D computer graphics and Flash Animation.)
