21+ Charity Comedy Underground @ The Grog to benefit Newbury Food Pantry!

Now in the third year, Comedy Underground at the Grog has been a big hit and this one promises to deliver another night of good fun! We are excited to give you a fun night out that will benefit a great local cause! Your comedians for the evening are:

Host, Mark Moccia. Mark is the founder of Moccia Comedy Productions and loves giving back to the community. In just 2 years, Moccia Comedy Productions has already (as of this writing) raised nearly $92,000 for local charities from Northern Vermont to Rhode Island!

Featuring:

Jim Bowes. Jimmy Bowes is a simple everyman. Married with three young kids, one of his favorite things about doing comedy is driving to events in a whine-free state of bliss, during which he has to threaten to pull the car over zero times. Audiences of all ages enjoy his takes on navigating adult life and a career as a teacher while hamstrung by deficits in attention and maturity. Jimmy is one of those rare voices in comedy who has no need to say naughty words to get laughs, but sometimes he still does.

Alex Giampapa. Alex Giampapa began performing stand-up comedy in Boston at the age of 19 and soon became a popular act all across New England. He’s performed with comedians like Bill Burr, Hannibal Buress, Ilana Glaser, Sarah Cooper, Judah Friedlander, Gary Gulman, Matt Braunger, Sammy Obeid, Eric D’Alessandro, Adam Devine and Erik Griffin. Alex headlines shows nationwide, and has been featured in many comedy festivals including The Rogue Island Comedy Festival (Newport, RI), The Big Pine Comedy Festival (Flagstaff, AZ), The Boston Comedy Festival, The Vermont Comedy Festival and The Motor City Comedy Festival (Detroit, MI). His edgy, but relatable style has made him a popular choice for many different types of audiences: “His voice and onstage demeanor may be soothing, but that doesn’t mean [he] won’t bring a scorching set of well-crafted jokes, hot takes on current events, and a good, healthy dose of social commentary” - Vanyaland

Alex has had digital success too: he’s been featured on Comedy Central Asia, Funny or Die, and has been the #1 post on Reddit twice. His “War Money” joke has gone viral multiple times and was shared by celebrities/politicians such as Mos Def, DL Hughley, Gina Carano, Niecy Nash, Jamaal Bowman and Nina Turner. Alex also wrote, produced, directed and co-starred in a comedy pilot, Poor Effort.

Andrea Henry. Andrea is a Massachusetts based comedian who is recently back into performing stand up after a short break and has performed all over New England.

Logan O'Brien. Logan is a Boston based comedian who placed third out of one hundred comedians in Laugh Boston’s Massachusetts Funniest Person competition in 2019, and has worked with national headliners such as Big Jay Oakerson, Punkie Johnson, Shane Gillis, and more. He performs regularly at clubs such as the Comedy Connection, Laugh Boston, and Nick’s Comedy Stop. He also co-hosts a podcast, and writes, produces, and acts in online sketches with three other comedians under the name the “South Shore Boyz.”
