Plan now for a full weekend of larks and robins contra dances, workshops and more!
Featuring:
Diane Silver and Engine Room!
The Engine Room brings a powerhouse contra dance groove from both coasts and places in between. Since forming in 2022, they’ve been driving dancers to their feet with unstoppable energy. Twin fiddles blaze, guitar and banjo push the rhythm with relentless drive, and button accordion weaves in rich, melodic layers. Blending tradition with bold invention, the Engine Room creates a nonstop, heart-pounding sound that keeps dancers moving, grinning, and eager for more—long after the final chord fades.
Diane Silver Hailing from Asheville, NC, Diane Silver has called for dance weekends, camps and festivals from coast to coast and across the sea, for over 25 years. With a penchant for hot modern contras and “everyone active” squares, she loves sharing high-energy dancing that allows everyone to “play” with the band. Diane is highly acclaimed for her clear, efficient teaching and calling, creative medleys, and great positive energy. She combines Southern Appalachian favorites with New England traditions to provide a sizzling evening of dance in a friendly, welcoming tone.
Financial assistance for this project has been provided by the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency, and the City of Columbia, Office of Cultural Affairs.
