BLACK ART EXHIBIT
PDDBM is planning its first Black art exhibit as part of the 2027 Black History Month Fashion Show. This exhibit will intentionally center African, African American and Black artists while giving community members an opportunity to view, celebrate and purchase Black art.
We anticipate selecting approximately 10 to 20 pieces for this first exhibit, depending on the amount of space available at the final venue. Participating artists will be able to submit information about their artwork, including its sale price.
The art exhibit will feature prizes for the winning artists.
Artwork dimensions, submission requirements, deadlines, prize information and additional details will be announced later. African, African American and Black artists are encouraged to begin preparing now for this opportunity to showcase their work!
ART SELECTION COMMITTEE AND JURORS NEEDED
PDDBM is seeking African, African American and Black community members to serve on the art selection committee and as jurors.
The art selection committee will help determine which pieces are featured in the exhibit. Jurors will evaluate the selected works and help determine the prize winners.
To protect the fairness and integrity of the process, art selection committee members and jurors may not submit their own artwork for consideration in the exhibit.

PAID SETUP AND TAKEDOWN CREW
PDDBM will hire a setup and takedown crew for this event. Job descriptions, compensation, work schedules, application requirements and additional information will be announced later.
PAID MODELS NEEDED
PDDBM is seeking models for this fashion show. Models selected for this event will be paid an hourly rate for work completed during the event’s three-day period. Specific dates, schedules, expectations, hourly compensation and payment information will be provided through each selected model’s individual event agreement.
Beginning immediately, all models—including models who have previously worked with PDDBM—must complete the new PDDBM Paid Model Application.
This is a one-time application that will remain on file through September 30, 2029. Once a model’s application has been approved and placed on file, the model will not need to submit another application unless their contact information, availability, emergency contacts, measurements or other important information changes.
The PDDBM Paid Model Application allows us to:
• Maintain accurate model records
• Improve communication with our models
• Better match models with upcoming paid opportunities
• Streamline scheduling, fittings and event planning
• Create a more consistent and professional experience for everyone
OUR NEW MODEL SELECTION PROCESS
Step 1: Complete the PDDBM Paid Model Application.
Step 2: If you are selected for a paid modeling opportunity, PDDBM will contact you and invite you to complete the PDDBM Model Onboarding Process.
The onboarding process includes:
• Identity verification using two valid forms of identification
• Required participation agreements
• Compensation and payment documentation
• Event-specific schedules and expectations
• Any additional required paperwork
Only models who are selected for a paid modeling opportunity and successfully complete the onboarding process will be scheduled to participate and receive compensation in accordance with their individual event agreements.
PAID MODEL APPLICATION REVIEW PERIODS
PDDBM accepts Paid Model Applications throughout the year. To support planning and scheduling, we conduct two primary application review periods:
April 1–September 30
Applications received during this period are primarily considered for fall and winter paid modeling opportunities.
October 1–March 31
Applications received during this period are primarily considered for spring and early summer paid modeling opportunities.
Applications are reviewed and processed in the order received. Selection is based on event needs, applicant qualifications, availability, successful completion of the onboarding process and the number of available modeling positions.
Submitting a Paid Model Application does not guarantee selection for a particular event. However, having an approved application on file allows PDDBM to consider you for current and future paid modeling opportunities through September 30, 2029.

A MESSAGE ABOUT PDDBM’S GROWTH
Our last major fashion show provided valuable lessons for our organization. We listened carefully to the feedback we received and recognized opportunities to strengthen our processes.
As a result, we have updated our procedures, documentation, communication and model onboarding process to provide greater clarity, consistency and professionalism. These changes reflect PDDBM’s continued commitment to improving the experience of every model who works with us.
PDDBM is growing. We have several fashion shows, educational programs, community events, photo shoots, historical programs and other entertainment opportunities being planned. As these opportunities continue to grow, so will the number of paid modeling and employment opportunities available through PDDBM.
Additional event information will be announced as it becomes available.
