In 1996, John Engels founded Leadership Coaching, Inc., to help senior leaders navigate relationship challenges at work and within their families. His work has taken John around the globe, regularly consulting with business founders, leaders and managers.

John is a Fellow at Cornell University's Smith Family Business Initiative, part of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Institute at the Johnson School of Business, where he recently co-authored their Family Business Leadership Certificate Program.

John is a long-time student, researcher and presenter of family systems concepts and strategies, and serves on the Advisory Board of the Bowen Center for the Study of the Family (formerly the Georgetown Family Center) in Washington, DC, an organization that has spent the past 50 years conducting seminal research on families and leadership.

Nicholas Engels is the President of Leadership Coaching, Inc., a second-generation consulting firm delivering advanced-level relationship management skills and transformational coaching strategies rooted in Bowen Family Systems Theory.

Nick leads the firm’s most senior engagements, including its flagship Advanced Leadership Course, a 10-month intensive on interpersonal mastery, emotional maturity, and high-trust leadership - now in its 30th year.

Nick is the lead facilitator of Coaching From Self, an innovative development program for current executive coaches seeking to integrate Family Systems strategies into their coaching practice.

A graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School in Western Australia, Nick completed postgraduate training at the Bowen Center for the Study of the Family in Washington, DC. He earned degrees from Quinnipiac University and the University at Buffalo.
