About this Event
Clay County 4-H will be hosting the Winter Wonderland of Horses Friday, January 30th, through Sunday, February 1st. There will be horse education, friends to make, and even giveaways!
Winter Wonderland is open to 4-H and non-4-H youth, and if there is space, even adults, interested in learning and developing their skills related to horses.
Friday night workshop: check-in will begin at 5:30 pm. We will kick things off around 6 pm, with a workshop, a surprise activity, and then dinner. (Dinner on Friday will be included for those participants who pre-register.)
Saturday equine clinics: check-in will begin at 8:30 am if you did not check-in Friday. (Lunch on Saturday will be included for those participants who pre-register.) Saturday, we will be offering:
Morning:
- Goat clinic: Goat tying had become a trendy eventin the ranch and rodeo world, with college rodeo teams looking closer at this as part of their recruitment. Learn safer and more effective tips to be more successful in this event (only taking 10 participants)
- Ground handling clinic: For those not interested in Goat tying, join us for ground handling and manners
Afternoon
- Obstacle clinic: This clinic will dig a little deeper into the intensive obstacles a horse may face on a trail or in a competition
Morning sessions, lunch, and then the afternoon sessions.
Sunday morning: check-in will begin at 9:00 am, and Fun Show depends on sign-up's (possible games: barrels, poles, keyhole, grannie panties, follow the cookies.)
Once you register, you will be sent an invoice via email.
Optional:
Meals: Meals are included for the registered participant. Extra meals can be purchased for $7 each. Meal options are: Pork sandwich, Salad w/ or w/o meat, or Spaghetti, and chips or green beans, and a drink.
Stalls: We do not permit tying to trailers. A stall is included with registration. Extra stalls may be reserved for $25 per stall. (If you are bringing an extra horse, you must present a current negative coggins). There is a $50 the stall cleaning fee assessed to participants if stalls are not stripped when the participant leaves.
Shavings: Shavings are available for $8. per bag by pre-order.

- **Sunday Fun Show Only - $30.00 (Fun show is dependent on interest)**
- Extra meals can be purchased for $7.00 each
(All participants must wear a helmet, be 8 years old or older as of September 1, 2025, to ride, provide a current negative Coggins for your horse, and otherwise comply with the 2025 Area & State 4-H Horse Show Rules. Helmets are to be worn while mounted on a horse. This event does not provide horses; participants must provide their own horse.)
