2026 Winter Soup Swap!

Are you ready for your new favorite tradition?

Join the Tighes and Caleb Jennings for the 8th Annual Soup Swap — a community gathering built around great soup, good people, and the kind of warmth that carries you through a Chicago winter.

What started years ago as a small, cozy soup-centric house party has grown into something we all hold close to our hearts. Last year, our home was bursting at the seams — full of neighbors, friends, laughter, and more soup than we could have imagined. It reminded us how powerful it is to slow down, come together, and share something made with care.

This year, we’re opening the circle a little wider — because traditions are better when they’re shared.

How our soup swap works:

• You make a large batch of soup at home and freeze it in quart-sized containers (size matters, please ensure you're using quarts!)

• Bring your frozen soups (as many complete quarts as you were able to freeze) along with a brief description of your soup to the swap and include any common allergens or other relevant notes

• Your frozen quarts of soup become your currency and you will swap 1:1 with other guests until you have a variety of soup to take home with you. For each frozen container you bring, you’ll leave with a quart of someone else’s soup of your choosing.

Most people bring 4–6 quarts and leave with a freezer full of soups made by their community — ready to warm you through the rest of winter and into spring.

Please note: food will not be served at the event, so plan to eat beforehand.

If you’re able, we’ll also be collecting voluntary donations for Chicago Hope Center, a local organization supporting families and neighbors in our community with food and essential resources. There’s absolutely no obligation — but if you’d like to participate, every contribution helps extend the warmth beyond our gathering.
