The Utica Amateur Radio Club will participate in Ham radio Winter Field days at the New Hartford Town Park. Once in the park take a left at the T and keep going to building next to the play ground on the right.The Winter Field Day event aims to help Amateur Radio Operators (HAMs) improve communications preparedness for disasters and enhance operational abilities in adverse conditions. It is a unique opportunity for HAMs to set up field operations in remote locations, enabling them to connect with other amateur radio stations worldwide.
We invite the public to join us at the New Hartford (Sherrillbrook) Town Park on Rte 12, located approximately 1 mile south, from the Utica National Insurance intersection (Rte. 5 & Rte. 12). Come and observe our operations and possibly pick up a microphone and make a contact with other participating stations. Come experience Amateur Radio and learn more about this amazing hobby.
We will be sharing the 'Warming Hut' at the park, with cross-country skiers, snowshoers, and hikers.
The exercise begins on Saturday, January 24th at 11:00 a.m. and concludes on Sunday at 5:00 p.m.
We plan to set up outdoor antennas and utilize 2 transmitters to operate on HF, VHF, and UHF frequencies. Listen to operators use Morse Code, digital signals and voice to exchange information.
Talk-in is on the UARC 2 Meter Repeater (146.16/76).
