About this Event

Please join us in person or online for the 2026 Alumni Convocation featuring The Very Rev. Michael DeLashmutt, Ph.D., Senior Vice President and Dean of the Good Shepherd Chapel, The General Theological Seminary; The Rev. Emily Garcia, Associate Rector at Church of our Redeemer, Lexington, MA and author of The St. Dunstable Pledge; and workshop leaders The Rev. Dr. Lorenzo Lebrija, Executive Director, TryTank Institute; and Stephen Cook, Ph.D., Catherine Burney Professor of Old Testament Language and Literature. .

Additional Convocation highlights include Convocation Evensong with sermon, followed by a festive reception.

Registration is $50.00 per person for those attending on campus, which includes the program sessions, lunch, morning and afternoon refreshments, and the reception following Evensong.

Registration is $10.00 per person for those who are attending online only.

Please note: The Monday night (October 12) Alumni Reunion Dinner requires a separate registration which can be found .

9:30-10:30 am - Reflections on Seminary Life, the Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, Ph.D., Dean and President of VTS

10:45 am - 12:15 pm - Address by The Rev. Emily J. Garcia, Associate Rector, Our Redeemer, Lexington, MA and creator of The St. Dunstan Pledge for Preachers, speaking on preaching in an age of AI.

2:00 pm - Presentation of the Carol Myers St. Nicholas Award, with Carol Myers and Kyle Lambelet, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Ethics and Director of the St. Nicholas Center for Faith and Justice

2:15- 3:45 pm - Address by The Very Rev. Michael DeLashmutt, Senior Vice President and Dean of the Chapel of the Good Shepherd, The General Theological Seminary, speaking on what AI reveals about ministry

4:00 – 4:50 pm - Practical Workshops on aspects of AI and Ministry, including offerings from The Rev. Dr. Lorenzo Lebrija and Professor Stephen Cook

5:15 pm - Convocation Evensong and the Awarding of Honorary Degrees, preacher The Rev. Canon Kathy Walker ’18, AAEC President

6:30 pm - Festive Convocation Reception


Hotel Information: The Seminary has a block of rooms for Convocation guests at Hotel Pentagon South (formerly the Courtyard Marriott), with room rates of $179/night plus taxes. Hotel reservation information will be sent after your registration is received.
