About the eventThe 2026 Snohomish County Affordable Housing Conference is right around the corner!
As the only event of its kind in Snohomish County, this conference brings together more than 200 professionals from housing, human services, construction and design, financing, and the broader community. It’s a space to connect across sectors, share ideas, and build momentum through inspiring keynote sessions and interactive breakout workshops designed to spark real conversation.
This Year’s Theme: The Future of Home
This year’s theme challenges us to think beyond housing as just buildings, and instead focus on what it truly means to create places where people feel rooted, connected, and able to thrive.
As Snohomish County continues to grow, the question isn’t just how many homes we build; it’s what kind of communities we’re creating. Home is shaped by more than affordability. It’s about belonging, access to opportunity, cultural identity, and the everyday experience of the neighborhoods we design.
Centering placemaking means putting people at the heart of development and creating spaces that reflect community priorities, support local connections, and stand the test of time. It’s about designing neighborhoods that are not only functional, but vibrant, inclusive, and welcoming to all.
At this year’s conference, we’ll explore how we can move beyond delivering housing to building places that truly feel like home.
Morning Keynote Speaker: Craig Lewis
We’re excited to welcome Craig Lewis as this year’s morning keynote speaker. With more than 30 years of experience, Craig has helped shape communities around the world that are more walkable, livable, and sustainable. His work spans urban design, transportation, and placemaking, and has been recognized by leading organizations including the American Planning Association and the Congress for the New Urbanism.
He currently serves as the design lead for The Point, a 600-acre redevelopment transforming a former state prison site into a vibrant, mixed-use, transit-oriented community. Craig is also a Fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners and a TEDx speaker on The Science of Walkable Cities.
His perspective will help ground this year’s conversation in what it takes to design communities that truly function as “home.”
