The Seoul International Choreography Festival (SICF) has played a pivotal role since 1992 in discovering talented emerging Korean choreographers and supporting their advancement onto the global stage. It has also contributed to the Korean dance landscape by fostering an environment that transcends cultural, racial, and national boundaries, connecting artists through creativity and freedom, and cultivating an international network within the field.
Over the years, the festival has expanded into an international platform where choreographers from Korea and around the world come together to exchange works that reflect the sensibilities of contemporary dance.
Now in its 35th edition, SICF builds upon its accumulated experience and network to move beyond a conventional presentation format, evolving into a platform where choreographic processes and artistic languages can expand and connect. It also seeks to establish more structured collaborative production systems based on its festival network, while strengthening frameworks that encourage sustained exchange and connection among artists.
In 2026, SICF turns its attention to artists who explore expanded formats of the performing arts. Furthermore, by developing mid- to long-term co-production and collaboration structures with internationally engaged producers, delegates, and artists, the festival aims to move beyond one-off exchanges to foster a sustainable global creative ecosystem, and to position itself as a leading platform shaping new currents in the Korean performing arts scene.
