2026 Oxon Cove Earth Day River Cleanup

We welcome volunteers of all ages to help remove single-use plastics and trash that has accumulated along the shoreline of Oxon Cove and Oxon Run. Please be prepared and dress accordingly. Wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little wet and muddy. (If you have knee-high rubber boots or waders we recommend wearing them so you can help us tackle the trash below the shoreline!) Please bring water (in a reusable water bottle, of course) and snacks.

After the Oxon Cove Earth Day River Cleanup, make sure to visit the Forest Heights Climate Festival for continual fun and education on Earth Day!

Please fill out the PRKN volunteer waiver and email to [email protected] before arriving at our event. Any minors participating must have a parent or legal guardian attend with them and sign their waiver.

Info: Volunteers will check in at either the DC or Maryland check-in table, be provided with river cleanup supplies, and be given an overview of the river cleanup site. Volunteers will then spend the shift in the allotted cleanup site and deposit full trash bags along Oxon Cove Trail for disposal.
