Join Alpha Legal Foundation for reflection, community, and a Hot Suppa Grits Bar—break bread & build justice.
About this Event

Join Alpha Legal Foundation for a gathering designed to honor Dr. King’s legacy through reflection, fellowship, and the simple joy of breaking bread together centered on the theme Joy is Resistance.

We offer two options to join us:

  • 8:30 am for our early risers (doors open at 8 am)
  • 11:00 am for those who sleep in (doors open at 10:30 am)

For generations, MLK Day has been more than a day of remembrance. In many communities, it has been a day to come together — to share food, music, and purpose — and to recommit ourselves to justice with love and hope.

We believe that joy is not a distraction from the work — it is part of the work. Joy strengthens us. Joy connects us. Joy reminds us why liberation is worth fighting for.

What to Expect

This gathering will bring together Mainers for an uplifting, community-centered celebration featuring:
✨ Soulful food and shared fellowship
✨ Moments of reflection and remembrance
✨ Community connection across generations
✨ Space to honor and build toward justice together

Ticket sales end Sunday, January 19th at 6 pm.

The Equality Community Center is closed for the MLK Jr. Holiday, registration is required for entry.
