2026 Mental Health Matters 5K

Support mental health care and suicide prevention in our community! All proceeds benefit Foundation 2 Crisis Services, a local nonprofit that provides support to people in crisis more than 90,000 times per year.

The MHM5K is a community 5K run/walk held in Hiawatha, Iowa in memory of Jeff Vipond and others who have lost their lives to suicide. The event brings family, friends, runners, walkers, volunteers, and supporters together while promoting mental health awareness, hope, healing, and community support.
More than a race, the MHM5K is a meaningful day of remembrance, encouragement, and connection. Participants of all ages and abilities are welcome to join in honoring the memories of loved ones lost, supporting survivors, and uniting behind a cause that continues to make a positive impact throughout the community.
Team (group) and individual registration are available. Register for the walk or run (held at the same time), or the virtual option if you can't make it on Sept. 26.
Day-of Details
The 2026 MHM 5K is Saturday, Sept. 26 at Stillwater Coffee (1275 North Center Point Rd. in Hiawatha). You're invited to run or walk to course. Check-in starts at 7 a.m. The race starts at 8 a.m. The top three finishers in each category will receive a trophy. Categories are ages:
10 and Under
11-19
20-29
30-39
40-49
50-59
60-69
70+

PACKET PICKUP
Packet pickup will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25 at Stillwater Coffee (1275 North Center Point Rd. in Hiawatha). Not able to make it? Pick up your packet no later than 7:45 a.m. the morning of the race.
HONOR A LOVED ONE
We honor and remember loved ones who died by suicide with yard signs along the course. Order a sign(s) in honor of your loved one, or pay for a previous sign to be displayed this year, at https://runsignup.com/Race/Donate/IA/Hiawatha/MentalHealthMatters5KHiawatha
