2026 Local Work Group Meeting

A Local Work Group (LWG) is a locally led conservation partnership coordinated through the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and local Soil and Water Conservation Districts that identifies natural resource concerns and conservation priorities within a community.

Each year, the LWG meeting brings together agricultural producers, forest landowners, agencies, organizations, and community members to discuss conservation needs specific to their county and provide input on local priorities. These discussions focus on issues such as soil health, water quality, wildlife habitat, farmland preservation, forestry, stormwater impacts, erosion control, and sustainable land management practices.

The input gathered during the meeting is used to recommend priorities that help guide future conservation programs, technical assistance, and funding opportunities. By participating, community members help ensure that conservation efforts reflect local needs and support practical, locally driven solutions. This process strengthens Anderson County’s ability to protect natural resources, support its agricultural economy, and plan for future generations.
