In Celebration of Juneteenth throughout the weekend of June 19 – 21, 2026, the downtown Norfolk waterfront will come alive with a full schedule of engaging, colorful, festive, entertaining, cultural, historic, ceremonial and educational elements and themed Juneteenth activities in real time for locals and visitors of all ages and from around the country and the world to experience as part of America’s 250th anniversary.
The Friday, June 19th, fireworks show will be presented this year as the “Freedom Fireworks Celebration,” honoring Juneteenth and the historic emancipation of enslaved African Americans. The event celebrates the resilience, culture, and lasting contributions of African Americans while bringing the community together in a shared reflection on freedom and progress.
Musical performances include Patti LaBelle, Sister Sledge featuring Sledgendary, Roberta Lea, and more.
These activities and attractions will align with the planned visits of the Sail250® Virginia fleet and the traditional Norfolk Harborfest activities and attractions, to create a spectacular weekend of celebration and commemoration, all free and open to the public. All scheduled events and programming are subject to change.
