Welcome to the Joint International Bioinformatics Hackathon – Cambridge!

Join us at the Downing Site, University of Cambridge for an exciting in-person event where bioinformatics enthusiasts come together to collaborate, innovate, and hack away! Whether you're a seasoned coder or just starting out, this hackathon offers a unique opportunity to network, learn, and have fun.

This is the fourth edition of our joint International Bioinformatics Hackathon.

Join us for an exciting event that will bring together computational scientists across Belgium and the UK in the field of life sciences and technology. The Joint VIB-UAntwerp - Babraham Institute-Cambridge Hackathon is your chance to collaborate and innovate in a vibrant stress-free space!

Starting on Wednesday September 9th, 2026 this 3-day in-person event will take place simultaneously at

• University of Cambridge, UK (Downing site)
• University of Antwerp, Belgium

Whether you're an advanced coder or a beginner, this hackathon is open to everyone with an interest in bsolving biological problems! Lead on your own project or join a team, and tackle challenges that span a wide range of topics, including genomics, bioinformatics, data analysis, and more. The hackathon will run for ~8h a day and includes evening social activities!

We will publish project summaries as hackathon proceedings in f1000.
